L’Oreal Paris and Naomi Watts Team Up at TIFF

This past Friday, September 9, 2016, L’Oréal Paris, along with the brand’s spokesperson actress Naomi Watts, visited Toronto’s Shangri-La hotel to announce the launch of L’Oreal Paris’ Women of Worth Grant Award Program in Canada; an endeavour that will recognize 10 women each year, who are bettering their communities, or even their country, through active philanthropic and volunteer work.

The program, which began in the US in 2005, will help the 10 finalists in their charitable endeavours by giving them a platform with which to spread awareness of their cause, along with a $10,000 donation in their honour to the non-profit organization of their choosing. They’ll also be flown to Toronto for an exciting awards gala taking place on March 8th, International Women’s Day, which we’re sure is no coincidence.

The benefits of recognizing these hard-working and selfless women go far beyond the obvious: according to a study commissioned by the brand, 81% of women reported that seeing another woman working to make positive change encourages them to follow suit. Ultimately, this creates a ripple effect of positive actions and positive change, and on top of that, the women who do give back to their communities report having a better sense of self worth—so hello to a snowball of good deeds, real change, and feeling awesome about ourselves too.

If you know a woman who deserves to be recognized as one of the ten hard-working and selfless women, then do something good yourself, and nominate her. Fill out a nomination form at womenofworth.ca.
