Misty Copeland made headlines last year when she was promoted to principal dancer at the American Ballet Theatre, the first female African-American dancer to hold the prestigious title. Now, Copeland is taking the notion of celebrity ballerina to a whole new level. The prima ballerina gave fans a glimpse into her past in a 2015 documentary, A Ballerina’s Tale, a Barbie doll was made in her image, her memoir, Life in Motion: An Unlikely Ballerina, is now headed for the big screen, and if that wasn’t enough, Copeland has joined the cast of Disney’s upcoming live action film The Nutcracker (premiere date TBD), alongside Keira Knightley and Morgan Freeman.

Until then, we’ve got Rizzoli’s new hardcover glossy (in bookstores now), featuring stunning photographs of the ballerina by Gregg Delman, on our wish list.
