In looking back at the achievements in feminist art, the Brooklyn Museum is also looking forward at the next steps in the fight against inequality, with A Year of Yes: Reimagining Feminism at the Brooklyn Museum. Spanning over a year, the series features 10 distinct exhibitions by art stars such as Georgia O’Keeffe and Marilyn Minter alongside lesser-known names, while shining a spotlight on the importance of women of colour in the rise of second-wave feminism. Marking the 10th anniversary of the museum’s Elizabeth A. Sackler Center for Feminist Art, programming high- lights include artist Jeremy Deller’s Iggy Pop Life Class, which turns the traditionally female-centric nude life drawing class on its ear by using the rockstar himself as a model.
A Year of Yes: Reimagining Feminism at the Brooklyn Museum is on view at the Brooklyn Museum from October 2016 until early 2018.
