The moment Gucci’s spring 2017 ready-to-wear collection went live, our team went haywire. The scene was rather comical, as we frantically shouted looks by the number and fought over who liked what more. The model’s fans, which resemble props from our spring Chinatown editorial (they’re still lingering around our office), the Barb look-a-like (as in Stranger Things Barb), and the mix of frizzed out crimped hair and smooth, rich-girl styles had us in a tizzy. And of course, the brand’s unmistakable opulence, with thousands of sequins, layers of tulle, intricate brocade, and even tinsel, had us delighted.
